Independent Scientific Consultant
Evidence-based assessment and on-site building performance testing.
About me
I am an independent consultant with a background spanning science, building performance, and regulatory compliance.
My career began in 2012 with humble beginnings as a laboratory technican, working for the Australian Laboratory Services (ALS) when they were operating under Campbell Brothers. I hold a Bachelor of Science from QUT with a dual major in Chemistry and Physics.
I hold Chartered status with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) and served as the Queensland Chair for the Australian Institute of Physics (2022–2023).
My experience includes QA/QC, wiritng QMS documentation, managing GMP, technical risk management, and working to TGA requirements. I have worked across private industry, research, start-ups, and national consulting firms.
I have supported projects involving:
building design,
remediation planning,
building performance verification,
and much more.
This background allows me to bridge:
scientific analysis,
regulatory expectations, and
real-world construction and remediation constraints.
My Services Explained
Simplified View of the Typical Building Process
My services work in tandum with the managing contractor to provide value for various project stakeholders.
Partnership
I'm driven and passionate about my work; I am looking to create partnerships with businesses that have a long-term and strategic outlook.
GreenStar Starters
Practical onboarding and targeted support for teams tendering Green Star – Buildings projects.
If your organisation lacks in-house ESD capability, or has limited experience with Green Star requirements, this service provides the structure and confidence needed to pursue compliant projects without building a full internal department.
Support can include tender-stage guidance, project onboarding, and representation within Green Star working groups where required. Strengthening both compliance outcomes and industry visibility.
Ask how I can help you get started with your own GreenStar projects.
Exposure to Toxins
TVOCs such as Benezene, Toluene and Formaldegyde are commonly used in building and construction materials and can linger in a building for years after construction if not considered.
Understanding building characteristics and early consideration of material selection and acting on educational opportunities can lead to significant reduction of toxins which reside in a building after construction.
Prior preperation combined with spot testing and on-site sample capture provide the essential evidence required by GreenStar Buildings for certification.
Air-Tightness Testing
Also known as air-permiability testing. It is a method of measuring the amount of air that flows in and out of a building (exluding engineered or intended pathways).
What was formally optional for innovation points under Greenstar: Design As-Built has now become part of the minimum requirement for the new Greenstar Buildings Rating.
Our independent review and verification of airtightness is ATTMA certified and must include design review for air-tightness in architectural drawings prior to or during the building process (or both).
Additionally, air-tightness testing can identify more than just the performance of a building. Overall many building companies have seen tremendious improvements to building practices and quality control through the adoption of air-tightness testing and the resulting data.
Typical involvement spans from pre-construction review through to handover.
Tender Review
If you are new to tendering for a GreenStar Buildings project it can be easy to overlook minor details which can lead to unexpected costs nearing the completion of the project.
I can review tenders on a technical basis to assure that all required testing is included, compliant, and matched to your project's needs.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Design and refinement of SOPs for technically complex or regulated environments.
Many organisations stall at early process maturity. I develop SOPs that act as a stable reference point for consistency, training, and continuous improvement. This includes resilience considerations such as power loss, restart conditions, and abnormal operations.
This work is suited to organisations that need reliability, not just documentation.
